Engagement Party - Samali and Nicholas (2010-09-19)

Engagement Party

Samali and Nicholas

Hemel Hempstead

(2010-09-19)

Dear friends, relatives, members of Nicholas's family and most importantly, the happy couple, Samali and Nicholas,

It is a great pleasure to be able to send a few words to be presented at this very happy occasion, not only for Samali and Nicholas but also for all of us who love them immensely. It is a shame that I am unable to attend this special event personally despite being the one and only maternal uncle of Samali. However, my thoughts are always with both of you and I send these sincere greetings with added warmth from the deserts of oil rich Saudi Arabia.

Samali is a pretty young lady with a charming personality, intelligence, broad outlook on life and a flair for helping those in need regardless in which part of the world they live in. This of course does not come as a surprise to those who know who her parents are. It is up to you all and of course to Nicholas, if he has already not done so, to find out whether the maternal or paternal genes have prevailed in Samali. Of course, as the maternal uncle, I already know the answer. J

As far as I can see each one of you have found an ideal life partner in the other. This is what is most important. We are very happy and pleased that you two have made this important choice of life with extreme care, understanding and courage. It only remains for us to wish both of you a very happy future.

I first saw Samali as a toddler when my wife, Kumudu and I visited them in London in November 1984. We were just married then. Samali used to come to our bedroom and jump on our bed. She was so pretty and cuddly. Kumudu used to enjoy this a lot. Within weeks, my wife conceived, later to see with a baby girl. This is another positive influence Samali has made on our family, despite her tiny size at that time.

Dear friends, relatives, members of Nicholas' family and all the well wishers who have gathered here, please raise your glasses in a toast ….. to Samali and Nicholas.
